Allan King, Jr. is in his fifth season of his second stint as an assistant women’s basketball coach at Wilmington College for the 2017-18 season.
King, Jr. mentored Mackenzie Campbell to First Team All-Ohio Athletic (OAC) Conference honors in 2016-17 as well as aiding Head Coach Jerry Scheve in leading the Fightin' Quakers to the OAC Tournament championship game for the first time since the 2007-08 campaign. He was also an assistant for Wilmington from 2005-07. The Quakers claimed OAC regular season and tournament titles in 2007 and advanced to the second round of the NCAA Division III Tournament.
Between Wilmington stints, King, Jr. served as the head women’s basketball coach at the University of Pittsburgh Bradford. He took over a program with four players upon arrival and won 11 games in his second season. King, Jr. was also the strength and conditioning coach, and created a reading and mentoring program for disadvantaged youth. After Pitt.-Bradford, he spent one season as an assistant women's basketball coach at Capital University before moving to Russia High School as head girls basketball coach. He led the Raiders to three consecutive winning seasons and a district title in 2012.
King, Jr., also an assistant softball coach at Wilmington, graduated from Bluffton University in 2003 a degree in sport management and minor in business. He went on to get a master's degree in education from Heidelberg University in 2005.
King, Jr. resides in Wilmington with his wife Maria, a Wilmington College alumna. The couple has five children; Lily, Trey, Si, Grace and Hadley.
