Women's Basketball Heads to Mount Union Saturday

WILMINGTON, Ohio – The Wilmington College women's basketball team continues Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) play on Saturday when the Quakers travel to the University of Mount Union for a 3 p.m. contest on Saturday.

The Teams: Wilmington and Mount Union. The Quakers are 4-3 on the season and looking to snap a two-game OAC losing skid after falling 75-67 at Ohio Northern University on Wednesday. The Purple Raiders are 6-1 overall and 1-1 in the OAC after losing for the first time this year on Wednesday (61-58 at John Carroll University).

The Coaches: Jerry Scheve is in his 29th season as head coach of the Wilmington women's basketball program. Scheve, who guided the Quakers to the NCAA Division III National Championship in 2004, recently won his 500th career game. Wilmington has claimed seven regular season conference championships under his guidance. Suzy Venet, the former All-American at Mount Union is in her 14th season coaching her alma mater's women's basketball program.

The Players: Wilmington features a balanced scoring attack as three Quakers – McKayla Binkley, Kennedy Lewis, and Faith Teaford – all average double figures in scoring while Kelly Noll, Hannah Binkley, Savannah Hooper and Michelle Lee all score between 7-9 points per game. Teaford nearly averages a double-double per game as the sophomore grabs 9.3 rebounds per contest. Noll and McKayla Binkley both grab over four rebounds as well while Kennedy Lewis dishes out a team-high 4.7 assists per game. Rachel Tinkey leads the Purple Raiders in scoring at 14.7 points per game while Tori Rappach scores 11.1 points per contest. Sarah Hessel leads the team with 6.7 rebounds per game while Anna Alkire dishes out 3.6 assists per contest.

Tale of the Tape: Points per game – Wilmington 71.7, Mount Union 69.3; opponents' points per game – Wilmington 67.6, Mount Union 47.9; field goal percentage – Wilmington 42.7, Mount Union 39.8; three-point percentage – Wilmington 36.9, Mount Union 36.0; free throw percentage – Wilmington 71.3, Mount Union 71.6; rebounds per game – Wilmington 42.9, Mount Union 4.36; assist-to-turnover ratio – Wilmington 1.03, Mount Union 1.04.

500 Victories: With Wilmington's 71-57 win at Earlham last month, Head Coach Jerry Scheve became the 32nd individual and 19th active coach in NCAA Division III Women's Basketball to cross the 500-win plateau.
