Women's Basketball To Embark on Nine-Day Trip Abroad to Costa Rica

WILMINGTON, Ohio – The Wilmington College women's basketball team will embark on a nine-day trip to Costa Rica beginning May 13 and concluding on May 21.

Lady Quaker Basketball will play three from Costa Rica – Coronado (club), Seleccion Nacional (Costa Rican National Team) and Giocochea (club) – during the trip while also participating in a variety of activities throughout three Costa Rican cities – San Jose, La Fortuna and Punta Leon.

"I am extremely excited for our team trip to Costa Rica because it gives our student-athletes a chance to experience a part of the world they haven't seen before," Head Women's Basketball Coach Jerry Scheve said. "We have a chance to continue to grow close as a team while playing some high-level basketball.  This trip also allows us to take in a different culture and become more globally aware."

Along with the three basketball games, the women's basketball team will partake in a community service project on Monday and Tuesday as well as white-water rafting on the Sarapiqui River, zip-lining and stopping at Crocodile Bridge. Finally, the Quakers will enjoy two days relaxing before returning to Cincinnati on Monday.

Wilmington finished its 2017-18 season with an 11-15 overall record to go along with an 18th consecutive appearance in the OAC Tournament.
