Jefferson named OAC Player of the Week

AUSTINTOWN – Wilmington College women's basketball player Brittaney Jefferson has been named the Ohio Athletic Conference women's basketball Player of the Week, the league announced today (Monday, February 1, 2016).

Jefferson (Dayton, OH/Chaminade Julienne) tallied 21 points with four rebounds and two assists in Wilmington's 64-56 victory over #13 Capital last week. She added a 21-point effort in Saturday's loss to Heidelberg.

"I thought Brittany had the best game of her career against Capital," said Wilmington head coach Jerry Scheve. "She is learning a new position for her, and she has made a lot of progress throughout the year."

It marks the first Wilmington women's basketball player to earn the league's weekly honor this season, and the first time in her career Jefferson has earned the award.

Wilmington (7-12 overall, 4-8 OAC) hosts #15 Ohio Northern 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at Fred Raizk Arena in Hermann Court.
