ADA – The Wilmington College women's basketball team lost for the third straight time, losing to Ohio Northern Wednesday, 73-42, in Ohio Athletic Conference action at the ONU Sports Center.

"I thought we really came out and compete hard in the first half, but couldn't make any shots," said Wilmington head coach Jerry Scheve. "We hung with them until halftime. We didn't come out with the same intensity in the second half, and they got hot."

Wilmington struggled from long range, hitting just 3-for-25 (12 percent) from beyond the arc. More than half of its shot attempts were from three-point territory. The Fightin' Quakers experienced a lot more success inside the arc, making 52.3 percent (11-of-21) of their two-point field goals.

"Ohio Northern is very good defensively," said Scheve. "They do a real good job of not letting you get to the basket. They want you to take those shots, and we were having trouble getting the ball inside. I think we settled too easily on some of those shots. Anytime we took the ball to basket good things happen."

Freshman Mackenzie Campbell (Cincinnati, OH/Turpin) had most of Wilmington's success near the basket, making 6-of-6 from two-point territory. Her only miss was a three-pointer.

The rest of the team was 5-of-16 (31.2 percent) inside the arc.

"She was the person that got the ball to the basket, and when she did, good things happened," said Scheve. "We needed more of that from other players."

Campbell finished with 18 points with three rebounds and a steal. Junior Ja'Cole Tabor (Dayton, OH/Chaminade-Julienne) and sophomore Ellie Kivell (West Chester, OH/Lakota West) dished out three assists each, while junior Mary Moyer (Martinsville, OH/Clinton Massie) pulled down a team-high seven boards.

Wilmington (5-9 overall, 2-5 OAC) returns home 3 p.m. Saturday to host Muskingum.
