Tom Purtell

    Volunteer Assistant Softball Coach

Tom Purtell is in his 23rd season as a Wilmington College assistant softball coach in 2023-24. He served as the interim head softball coach in the fall of 2002. Tom brings 54 years of coaching experience to the Lady Quakers softball program.

He has been associated with the Fairfield High School softball program since its inception in 1978 including the last 25 years as the associate head coach. The Lions' softball program has won 20 Southern Hills Athletic Conference titles, 32 Sectional Championships, 10 Southeast District Championships, one Regional Championship and one State Final Four appearance.

Tom was inducted into the Times-Gazette Highland County Athletic Hall of Fame in 2017.

Tom graduated cum laude from The Ohio State University in 1973, with a degree in comprehensive mathematics education. He is a senior partner and Director of Surveying Services of McCarty Associates, LLC in Hillsboro, Ohio.

Tom was founder, manager, and coach of the Leesburg Lady Panthers travel softball program from 2000-2010. The travel softball program fielded 12u, 14u, 16u, and 18u teams. The Leesburg Lady Panthers program has sent forty (40) players on to play softball at the collegiate level.
