Softball Concludes OAC Play at Heidelberg on Saturday

SERIES HISTORY

WILMINGTON, Ohio – The Wilmington College softball team concludes Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) play for the 2018 season at Heidelberg University on Saturday. The doubleheader is scheduled to begin at 1 p.m.

The Teams: Wilmington and Heidelberg. The Fightin' Quakers are 13-17 overall and 4-12 in the OAC after falling to Hanover College in a non-conference series on Thursday. The Student Princes are 23-13 overall and 11-5 in the OAC. They recently split a series with Bethany College (West Virginia).

The Coaches: Beth Floyd is in her 11th season as Wilmington's softball head coach. She is the winningest softball coach in school history and is also the College's associate director of athletics. Kelli Williams is in her second season as head coach at Heidelberg after leading the Student Prices to a 13-4-1 OAC record in her first season in 2017.

Hitters to Watch: Sawyer Hooper leads the Quakers with a .396 batting average while Alecia Kemp has a team-high 31 hits. Megan Crager has drive in 15 runs to go along with eight doubles wile Savannah Hooper has swiped 13 stolen bases. Abbey McKee has eight home runs and 36 RBIs for Heidelberg while Casey Moore has hit six home runs and drive in 32 Student Princes.

Pitchers to Watch: Beth Persicano and Grace Shell have continued to share time for the Quakers as both of them have hurled at least 85 innings. Presicano is 6-10 with a 4.14 ERA this season with 49 strikeouts while Shell is 7-7 with a 4.26 ERA to go along with her 67 strikeouts. The two have combined to pitch 22 complete games.  Kaitlyn Moore has pitched 123.1 innings for Heidelberg with 113 strikeouts and a 2.84 ERA.
