Softball Hosts Mount Union on Senior Day This Saturday

SERIES HISTORY

WILMINGTON, Ohio – The Wilmington College Softball team continues Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) play on Saturday when the Fightin' Quakers host the University of Mount Union for a two-game series beginning at 1 p.m.

The Teams: Wilmington and Mount Union. The Quakers are 11-13 overall and 4-10 in the OAC after a series sweep of Capital University on Tuesday. The Purple Raiders are 11-19 overall and also 4-10 in the OAC after splitting a series with John Carroll University.

The Coaches: Beth Floyd is in her 11th season as Wilmington's softball head coach. She is the winningest softball coach in school history and is also the College's associate director of athletics. Meghan Kishman, the 2010 Mount Union alumna, is in her third season as Mount Union's head coach.

Hitters to Watch: The Hooper twins, Sawyer and Savannah, lead Wilmington in batting average with .364 and .349 averages respectively. Savannah leads the team with 29 hits and 13 stolen bases while Alecia Kemp and Allison Pierce, who also both hit over a .300 clip, have batted in double-digits RBIs. Allie Goldy has a .425 batting average for Mount Union with 15 RBIs. Morgan Riley has a team-high six home runs and 24 RBIs.

Pitchers to Watch: Beth Presicano and Grace Shell have continued to share time for the Quakers as both of them have hurled at least 75 innings. Presicano is 5-8 with a 4.24 ERA this season with 40 strikeouts while Shell is 6-5 with a 3.62 ERA to go along with her 53 strikeouts. The two have combined to pitch 19 complete games. Mount Union features three pitchers all with ERAs over 6.50. Jordan Tull has pitched a team-high 39 innings.

Series History: The Quakers are 5-13 against Mount Union since the 2009 season. The teams have split the last two season series, however. More information on the series history can be viewed by visiting the link above.

Senior Day: Saturday's contest marks the final weekend home series for the career of five seniors – Savannah Hooper, Beth Persicano, Sawyer Hooper, Chandler Fields and Meranda Wilson. A brief ceremony will be held prior to the doubleheader.
