Softball Travels to Marietta Saturday

WILMINGTON, Ohio – The Wilmington College softball team continues Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) play when the Fightin' Quakers travel to Marietta College for a doubleheader on Saturday. First pitching is scheduled for noon

The Teams: Wilmington and Marietta. The Quakers are 9-11 overall and 2-8 in OAC play after falling in two games at Otterbein University on Wednesday. The Pioneers stand at an even 13-13 overall and 5-5 in the OAC after splitting a doubleheader with the University of Mount Union on Wednesday.

The Coaches: Beth Floyd is in her 11th season as Wilmington's softball head coach. She is the winningest softball coach in school history and is also the College's associate director of athletics. Jen Arbuckle has an over .500 record in 30 years as Marietta's head softball coach. Similar to Floyd, she is also an associate director of athletics.

Hitters to Watch: Allison Pierce is one of Wilmington's to-go offensive threats with a .345 batting average to go along with 20 hits and nine RBIs. Alecia Kemp has a .350 batting average with 21 hits while Savannah Hooper, who leads the team with 23 base knocks, has stolen a team-high 10 bases. Jordan Pallay leads Marietta with five home runs and 25 RBIs. Ashley Tschudy has stolen seven bases this season.

Pitchers to Watch: Beth Persicano and Grace Shell, the former OAC Pitcher of the Week, have split the pitching duties for Wilmington as both have pitched at least 64 innings. Shell is 5-4 with a 3.26ERA while Persicano has a 4-7 record and a 4.27 ERA. Jackie Mulvain has pitched a team-high 66.2 innings pitched while Maddi Liston, who has a 4.96 ERA, has 35 strikeouts.
