NAPLES, FL – The Wilmington College softball team pounded out 11 runs Wednesday, but it wasn't quite enough as the Fightin' Quakers fell to Nichols, 4-2, and to Centenary, 10-9, in extra innings. WC has now lost three games that have gone past seven innings.

GAME ONE: NICHOLS 4, WILMINGTON 2

• Senior Becca Carpenter, 0-4, (South Charleston, OH/Southeastern) took the loss after allowing four runs (two earned) on five hits over six innings.
• Wilmington took the lead in the third inning on a junior Chandler Fields (Delaware, OH/Rutherford B. Hayes) sacrifice fly and a Carpenter double.
• The Bison took advantage of four WC errors in the fourth inning to score all four of its runs.
• WC had opportunities in the fourth and seventh innings. They had bases loaded and one out in the fourth, and runners on second and third with no outs in the seventh. Wilmington couldn't push across a run in either situation, and stranded 12 runners on base.
• Freshman Jillia Cook (Canton, OH/Glen Oak) recorded her first career hit, a double in the second inning, and reached base three more times via walks.
• Freshman Grace Yoder (Springboro, OH/Springboro) had her fifth multi-hit game of the season, going 2-for-4 with a run scored.
• Junior Savannah Hooper (Leesburg, OH/Wilmington) was 1-for-3 with a run scored and two stolen bases.

GAME TWO: CENTENARY 10, WILMINGTON 9 (8 INN.)

• The Cyclones scored the winning run on a two-out wild pitch after the runner moved to third on a one-out wild pitch.
• Wilmington fell behind 5-0 after two innings before the Fightin' Quakers got the bats going.
• Fields brought home a run with a two-out double in the third, and then Cook added two more with a two-out single. A two-out, two-run double in the fourth inning by Yoder knotted the game at five.
• However, Centenary reclaimed the lead with three runs in its half of the fourth.
• Wilmington continued its two-out hitting in the fifth inning as freshman Micalah Hensley (Houston, OH/Houston) singled home a pair of runs, and senior Kerrie Trautman (Hartville, OH/Field) tied the game with a two-out single in the seventh.
• The Fightin' Quakers threatened to take the lead in the seventh on an error that would have scored two runs, but interference was called, negating the runs.
• WC took the lead in the eighth on a RBI single by freshman Mariyah Burkhardt (Springfield, OH/Kenton Ridge), but Centenary tallied a pair of runs in the bottom of the eighth.
• Burkhardt took the loss, hurling four innings in relief – allowing three runs (two earned) on six hits with two strikeouts.
• Junior Beth Persicano (Knoxville, TN/Cincinnati (OH) Turpin) yielded seven runs (three earned) in 3 1/3 innings.
• Eight of the nine starters recorded a hit, while six of them had two hits.
• Wilmington finished with a season-high six stolen bases as Savannah Hooper added two more.
