WILMINGTON, Ohio - The Wilmington College men's cross country team opens the 2022-23 cross country season in Fairborn, Ohio at the Mike Baumer Cross Country Classic at Fairborn Community Park. After a 4th place finish in the Ohio Athletic Conference last season, the Quakers return this season with every runner from last season's campaign.
The Race: The men's 5,000-meter run will start at 6:00 PM.
The Teams: The Quakers will be joined by an open field of collegiate teams and athletes.
The Coach: Ron Combs enters his 27th season as head cross country coach at Wilmington College. A 1993 graduate of Wilmington, Combs was a member of the only cross country team to win a conference title in school history. Also the head track & field coach at the College, Combs led the Fightin' Quakers to two top-10 finishes nationally with a sixth place finish at the 2002 NCAA Division III Men's Indoor Track & Field Championships and a seventh place mark at the 2004 Women's Indoor Track & Field Championships.
The Squad: The Quakers return this season with a lot of familiar faces. The top four finishers at conference for the squad all return this season: Simon Heys, George Rickett, Noah Tobin and Eric Reynolds.
