A home course advantage for @DubC_XCTR men

The Wilmington College men's cross country team competed on Friday, at home, in a dual meet against Thomas More College. This meet was the first on their home course this season. The team raced a 5k, a distance they haven't seen in competition since the Red Wolf Rumble on September 2nd . The men ran well and gave honest efforts but finished a mere 21 points behind Thomas More. 

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Junior Griffin Stith (Batavia, OH/Batavia) who finished first for the Quakers in the Louisville Classic 8k last week, paced the team once again. He placed first overall with a time of 16:33.6.
  • Sophomore Rick Pride (Mt. Orab, OH/Western Brown) clocked in with a time of 17:03.8 for sixth, followed closely by Junior Cameron Erwin (South Vienna, OH/Northeastern) who finished seventh with a time of 17:21.9.
  • Sophomore Matt Baker (Liberty Center, OH/Liberty Center) was the next finisher for Wilmington. He ran in for tenth place with a time of 17:56.6.
  • Elliott Phillimore (Old Fort, OH/Old Fort), Jeff Clydesdale (Circleville, OH/Logan Elm), and Gage Egner (Blanchester,OH/Blanchester) rounded out the finishes for the Quakers. They clocked in with times of 18:17.1 for 12th, 18:30.1 for 13th, and 19:36.5 for 16th, respectively.

  • "It was a good win for Griffin. I thought we were good through the third position, but we have to be better at four and five fi we are going to be a competitive team. It was fun to run a dual meet. It felt very old school."
 

WHAT'S NEXT

  • The Fightin' Quakers will host the 2016 JennaStrong Fall Classic October 14. The invitation begins at 4:30 PM with the women's race with the men's race slated to begin at 5:15 PM.
