DANVILLE, Kentucky – The Wilmington College men's track & field team finished the Centre Twilight Meet in sixth place on Friday evening.

The Fightin' Quakers tallied 38.33 points to finish behind NCAA Division III schools Centre College and Berea College as well as ahead of Transylvania University and Spalding University.

In field events, Joe Shuga and Colin Myers led the way for Wilmington. Shuga finished fourth place in both the shot put (43' 10 ¾") and discus (136' 11"). In both of those events, the sophomore finished less the foot away from third place. Shuga rounded out his evening with a seventh-place mark of 146' 9" in the hammer throw.

Myers earned two third-place finishes with his jump of 6' in the high jump and 21' 5 ¾" launch in the long jump. The sophomore's day wasn't done, however, as he placed fifth in the 200-meter dash with a time of 23.02 seconds. Teammate Elliot Phillimore finished just over two-tenths of a second behind Myers in the dash in eighth place.

Evan Whitaker proved the Quakers' top distance performer on Friday as the freshman took fifth in the 3,000-meter steeplechase with a time of 10:13.78. Taton Bertsch also earned his team points with time of 2:00.02 in the 800-meter run. Bertsch also teamed up with Johs Cyrus, Whitaker and Sam Foote for a 3:42.02 time and an eighth-place finish in the 4-x-400-meter relay.

Wilmington's other 4-x-400-meter relay squad of Adam Knaub, Phillimore, Luke Richardson and Myers will compete at the All-Ohio Meet tomorrow (Saturday).
