Men's Track & Field Opens Indoor Season at Marietta First Glimpse Meet

MARIETTA, Ohio - The Wilmington College men's track & field team opened its indoor season at the Marietta College First Glimpse Meet on Saturday.

The Fightin' Quakers finished eighth out of 16 teams at the meet with 42 points as a team. Davis & Elkins won the meet with 81 points.

Wilmington took its first win of the season in the 5,000-meter run where Evan Whitaker finished first in 15:50.11 followed by Cameron Phelps in second and Austin Wampler in seventh. Jacob Whitaker finished first in the mile run with a time of 4:50.79. The 4,000-meter distance medley relay team of Evan Whitaker, Elliot Phillimore, Jacob Whitaker and Taton Bertsch won with a time of 11:39.15.

Evan Whitaker qualified for the Ohio Athletic Conference meet with his 5,000 meter run time.

Wilmington will return to Marietta for the Marietta Invitational in early 2019.
