Men's Track & Field Opens Indoor Season at Marietta Saturday

WILMINGTON, Ohio - The Wilmington College men's track and field team will begin its 2018-19 season at the Marietta First Glimpse Invitational this Saturday.

The Teams: Wilmington College will be joined by conference host Marietta College and another OAC member institution, Muskingum University. Also at the meet will be no- conference schools WVU Track Club, Davis and Elkins, Pikeville, West Liberty, Salem International, Ohio Dominican, Glenville State, Frostburg State, Ohio Valley, Aldersson Broaddus and Charleston (W.Va.).

The Coach: Ron Combs enters his 18th season as the head coach of Wilmington's men's and women's track and field teams. Combs has been named Coach of the Year, twice by the Heartland Athletic Conference, and once by the OAC. In 2002, he led the men's indoor team to a sixth-place finish at NCAA DIII Championships.

Who to Watch: Last season the distance medley relay at the Ohio Athletic Conference Indoor Championships scored points for the Quakers with Adam Knaub, Gage Clemens, Elliot Phillimore and Cameron Phelps with all four athletes returning this season. Knaub joined Aaron Koch in the 4-x-200-meter relay for a sixth place finish and Koch scored seventh in the 4-x-400-meter relay.
