@DubC_XCTR men fourth at Cedarville

CEDARVILLE – The Wilmington College men's track and field placed fourth at the 11-team Cedarville Collegiate Invitational Friday (February 5, 2015). 

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • Wilmington racked up most of its points in the field events.
  • Sophomore Pierce Burnam (New Richmond, OH/New Richmond) scored in four events for the Fightin' Quakers. He was second on the triple jump (12.91 meters), fifth in the 55 hurdles (8.22) and eighth in the high jump (1.82 meters).
  • Burnam was joined by sophomore Griffin Stith (Batavia, OH/Batavia), sophomore Hunter Stith (Batavia, OH/Batavia) and freshman Rick Pride (Mount Orab, OH/Western Brown) to place second in the distance medley relay (11:12.03).
  • The second DMR team of senior Dominic King (Bettsville, OH/Bettsville), freshman Elliot Phillimore (Old Fort, OH/Old Fort), freshman Gage Egner (Blanchester, OH/Blanchester) and freshman Gino Hinton (Maple Heights, OH/Maple Heights) placed third in the event (11:35.31).
  • Senior Antone Truss (Yellow Springs, OH/Yellow Springs) was second in the high jump (1.92 meters) and eighth in the long jump (6.01 meters).
  • Senior Leevi Stump (Mount Vernon, OH/Mount Vernon) was third in the triple jump (12.25) and fourth in the long jump (6.28).
  • Junior Zak Kruer (Miamisburg, OH/Miamisburg) was second in the pole vault (4.36 meters) and sixth in the long jump (6.10 meters).
  • Sophomore Kalvin Butts (St. John's, MI/St. John's) was second in the weight throw (15.38), freshman Ethan Hurtt (Frankfort, OH/Adena) was fifth in the weight throw (14.54) and Hinton was fifth in the 55 dash (6.64).

  • "I thought both teams did a good job tonight," said Wilmington head coach Ron Combs. "We are getting better every week, but we need everyone healthy. Right now our goal is to get everyone back 100 percent. For the men's the field events just keep getting stronger and stronger each week. We scored a lot of points tonight in the jumps and throws."
