Simpkins earns All-OAC, twice

BEXLEY – Senior Jake Simpkins recorded runner up finishes in two events Saturday as the Wilmington College men's track and field team finished seventh at the 2015 Ohio Athletic Conference Indoor championships at the Capital Center.

Simpkins (Germantown, OH/Valley View) earned All-OAC honors in the 800 meter run (1:57.64) and the mile (4:24.47) with his second-place finishes. He teamed with Derek Kilgo (Charlotte, NC/North Royalton), Pierce Burnam (New Richmond, OH/New Richmond) and Jake Sydnor (Owensville, OH/Clermont Northeastern) to finish fourth in the 4x400 relay (3:29.81).

Sydnor also scored in two individual events, placing fourth in the 400 (50.53) and was seventh in the 200 (22.93). Kilgo added a fourth-place finish in the 60 (7.07).

Wilmington kicks off the outdoor season on March 21 at the Transylvania Invitational.
