Sydnor, Duncan record victories

GRANVILLE – Senior Jake Sydnor and junior Josh Duncan each won an event for the Wilmington College men's track and field team as the Fightin' Quakers finished fourth in the 12-team Denison Lid Lifter Saturday.

Duncan (Cincinnati, OH/Archbishop Moeller) won the 200 meter dash (22.96) and finished fourth in the 60 meter dash (7.24). Sydnor (Owensville, OH/Clermont Northeastern) won the 400 meter dash (50.70) and was fifth in the 200 (23.35).

Senior Derek Kilgo (Charlotte, NC/North Royalton) placed second in the 60 (7.15) and fifth in the 200 (23.54). Sophomore Zak Kruer (Miamisburg, OH/Miamisburg) was second in the pole vault (4.42 meters) and freshman Pierce Burnam (New Richmond, OH/New Richmond) was fifth in the 60 meter hurdles (9.33).

Two Wilmington runners scored in the mile as senior Jake Simpkins (Germantown, OH/Valley View) was third in 4:28.37, and senior Tyler Ahle (Bellefontaine, OH/Benjamin Logan) ninth in 4:44.68.

The quartet of Simpkins, Ahle, Burnam and senior Scott Blubaugh (Circleville, OH/Logan Elm) was fourth in the distance medley relay (11:08.28).

Wilmington returns to action Saturday at the Ohio Athletic Conference South Meet hosted by Marietta College.
