Men's Swimming Has 10 Finals Appearances on Friday at OAC Championships

AKRON, Ohio - The Wilmington College men's swimming team had 10 finals performances on the second full day of the Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) Swimming and Diving Championships hosted at the University of Akron's Ocasek Natatorium on Friday.
 
For the second consecutive night, Cameron Bolen competed in a championship final for the Fightin' Quakers. On Friday, the sophomore swum a time of 59.41 seconds to place sixth in the 100-yard breaststroke. Teammate Luke Ruther, competing in the consolation final of the same event, took seventh (1:07.18). A quartet of Quakers - Dane Klosterman, Logan Lippert, Reed Ashcraft and Sha'bhir Thompkins, qualified for the consolation final in the 100-yard backstroke. Klosterman tallied runner-up honors with a swim of 57.06 seconds while Lippert (59.21 seconds), Ashcraft (59.68 seconds) and Thompkins (1:09.46) were sixth, seventh and eighth respectively.
 
In the 400-yard IM, Michael Phillippe finished second by touching the wall in 4:29.87 while Noah Arend was eighth (4:58.74). Aaron Polk and Austin Reed rounded out the individual finishers with Polk placing third in the consolation final of the 100-yard butterfly (53.41 seconds) and Reed's swim of 1:45.94 in the consolation final of the 200-yard freestyle that also placed him third.
 
In the one relay of the evening, the 200-yard medley, Phillippe, Bolen, Polk and Klosterman took fifth with a time of 1:38.59.
 
The final day of the 2022 OAC Championships begin tomorrow (Saturday) with preliminaries at 10 a.m.
