Throughout the months of July and August, the Wilmington College Office of Athletic Communications, through the lens of Director Mitch Blankespoor, is going to revisit some of its favorite memories of each sport throughout the 2019-20 academic year. Today's entry will be memories for the swimming season.
Academic All-Conference selections have at least a cumulative 3.5 grade-point average (GPA) at the end of the semester preceding the end of the spring season. The student-athlete must also be a member of a varsity team as well as be enrolled in a full-time capacity.
Isak Alin represented the Wilmington College men's swimming team by competing in two events at the Kenyon College Fast Chance Invitational on Saturday.
Alin swam a time of 2:02.17 to defeat Joan Venos of John Carroll University by 14 hundredths of a second. The time is both an OAC record, Wilmington program record and an NCAA B-Cut time, which puts Alin in the mix to receive an invite to the NCAA Division III Swimming & Diving National Championships.
The sophomore, who entered the weekend as the program’s record holder in the 200-yard IM, broke his own record by over two seconds with a time of 1:53.59.
Morning preliminaries are scheduled for 10 a.m. each day. Evening finals will begin at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, 6 p.m. on Friday and 5:45 p.m. on Saturday.
