WILMINGTON, Ohio - The Wilmington College men's swimming team defeated Hiram College 155-51 in a dual meet held at the Wilmington Natatorium on Saturday afternoon.

Frederick Rankin headlined the Fightin' Quakers' performances individually winning four events. The junior was victorious in the 50-meter breaststroke (32.00), 100-meter breaststroke (1:10.78), 50-meter butterfly (29.24) and the 200-meter medley relay (1:56.81) where he was joined by Lawrence Daya, Isak Alin and Logan Schroer.

"Freddie Ranking was phenomenal today," Head Men's Swimming Coach Trip Breen said. "His progression and work ethic are incredible, and I'm excited to see what's in store for him this season."

Four other Quakers were multi-event winners. Ian Darras won the 200-meter freestyle (2:23.58) and the 400-meter IM (5:35.01) while Daya claimed the 50-meter backstroke (30.69) and the 100-meter backstroke (1:09.52). Alin triumphed in the 100-meter freestyle (58.33) and the 100-meter butterfly (1:03.73) while Schroer claimed titles in the 50-meter freestyle (26.56) and the 400-meter freestyle (4:42.96).

Samuel Shanes also won the 800-meter freestyle (10:19.08) for Wilmington.

"This was our last dual for the fall semester as we are looking forward to the two-day invitational we are competing in next weekend," said Breen. "The opportunity to race two consecutive days will help us continue to prepare for our championship meet at the end of the season."

That two-day event Breen speaks of is the Mid-Season Championship hosted by Ohio Wesleyan University on Nov. 17-18.
