ADA, Ohio – The Wilmington College men's swimming team competed at Ohio Northern University (ONU) in the program's annual Friday evening dual meet on Oct. 26. The Polar Bears came out on top, defeating the Fightin' Quakers by a score of 211-74.

"I was very happy with the team atmosphere at our first away meet tonight," Head Men's Swimming Coach Trip Breen said. "We have a lot of new swimmers and the team really supported each other."

Isak Alin took home the win in the 100-yard IM (56.86) for the Quakers as well as placing runner-up in the 100-yard butterfly (55.78). He also finished third in the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 1:02.62.

Frederick Rankin also took home a victory for Wilmington, winning the 50-yard breaststroke (28.44). He also turned in fourth place finishes in both the 100-yard breaststroke (1:03.75) and the 100-yard IM (1:00.08).

Lawrence Daya placed second in the 50-yard backstroke (27.34) along with a third-place finish in the 100-yard backstroke (59.68).

"We showed improvement from our first meet after a great week of practice," said Breen. "They are definitely putting some things together and finishing races better. We still are making too many little mistakes that were costly today in a few close races."

Wilmington returns to the water on Nov. 3 for a double dual meet with Transylvania University and Wittenberg University.
