Fightin’ Quaker men’s swimming fourth after day one - OWU Invite

DELAWARE, Ohio-- The Wilmington College men's swimming team competed in two sessions of the Corbiere-Merion Invitational hosted by Ohio Wesleyan University on Saturday. After the day's events, the Fightin' Quakers sit in fourth-place with 253 points, 21 points ahead of fifth-place but 242 points behind third-place.

 

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • Junior Andrew Stewart (Wilmington, OH/Clinton-Massie) was the team's highest finisher over the course of the day, earning third-place in the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 1:48.42. Stewart also competed in the 100-yard freestyle, where he earned sixth with a time of 48.73.

  • Senior Cody Nash (Kingsburg, CA/Kingsburg) was the next highest finisher for the Fightin' Quakers, posting a 2:18.78 in the 200-yard breaststroke to earn fifth-place.

  • In the 100-yard breaststroke, Nash touched the wall in 1:03.17 and was awarded sixth-place. Sophomore Frederick Rankin (Frisco, TX/Lone Star) immediately followed, earning seventh-place with a time of 1:03.40.

  • Rankin, Stewart, senior Alex Tillapaugh (Wilmington, OH/Wickenburg), and junior Lawrence Daya (North Canton, OH/Glen Oak) teamed up for a 200-yard medley relay. The quartet earned fourth-place with a time of 1:40.76.

  • Stewart, Tillapaugh, Nash, and senior David Bellus (Upper Marlboro, MD/Northmont) joined forces to post a time of 3:25.47 in the 400-yard freestyle relay and earn sixth-place.

  • The Fightin' Quakers complete the final session of the Corbiere-Merion Invitational at 10 AM tomorrow.
