LEXINGTON, Kentucky- The Wilmington College men's swimming team competed in a double dual meet against Transylvania University and Wittenberg University on Saturday afternoon. The Fightin' Quakers beat Transylvania, but ultimately fell to Wittenberg.
HOW IT HAPPENED

The first event title for the Fightin' Quakers came from junior Andrew Stewart (Wilmington, OH/Clinton-Massie) in the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 1:49.41. Stewart also claimed an individual title in the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 48.97.

Stewart then joined forces with fellow senior Alex Tillapaugh (Wilmington, OH/Wickenburg) and David Bellus (Upper Marlboro, MD/Northmont), and junior Lawrence Daya (North Canton, OH/Glen Oak) to form a 200-yard freestyle relay. The quartet earned second-place with a time of 1:33.29.

Daya, Tillapaugh, Stewart, and sophomore Frederick Rankin (Frisco, TX/Lone Star) came together to form a 200-yard medley relay. The group earned second with a time of 1:43.01.

Daya earned second-place individual finishes in the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 59.55 and the 200-yard backstroke with a time of 2:13.70.

Tillapaugh also earned a second-place individual finish in the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 23.34.

"I thought we had good swims today, especially for our first long line up meet of the season. We still have some work to do on finishing races, but we have a 'sprint meet' coming up and hopefully that will help us work on that. I'm excited about our progress."
