  • OAC Swimming Championship, Day 3 Prelims- Men

    AKRON- The Wilmington College men’s swimming team competed in the final prelim session of the Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) Championship Saturday morning. The top sixteen times in each event from this morning’s session will swim, again, in finals this evening. The top eight times will swim in the championship heat, and the bottom eight in the consolation heat. Swims during the finals session are the only swims eligible for team points. Saturday’s prelims consisted of: 200-yard backstroke, 100-yard freestyle, 200-yard breaststroke, 200-yard butterfly, and 400-yard freestyle relay. The 1650-yard freestyle will also be contested today, as a timed final event. Though all but the top eight seeds competed during the prelims session, complete results and rankings will not be available until the conclusion of the event in this evening’s finals.

    AKRON- The Wilmington College men’s swimming team completed the Ohio Athletic Conference Swimming Championship, and their season, with a finals session Saturday evening. To be eligible to swim in a finals session, a swimmer must post one of the top sixteen times in the AM prelims session. The top eight times swim in a championship heat, and the bottom eight in a consolation heat. Consolation heat swimmers are not eligible for the top eight places, even if their time is worthy. Saturday’s finals consisted of: a timed final of the 1650-yard freestyle, the 200-yard backstroke, the 100-yard freestyle, the 200-yard breaststroke, the 200-yard butterfly, and the 400-yard freestyle relay. Women’s 3-meter and men’s 1-meter diving were also contested, though Wilmington fielded no athletes for those events. The men were in a close race for fourth-place with Baldwin Wallace University, who came into tonight’s final session in fifth, just five points behind the Fightin’ Quakers. Ultimately, the Fightin’ Quakers came out in fourth-place.
  • OAC Swimming Championships- Day Two Prelims- Men

    AKRON- The Wilmington College men’s swimming team competed in the day two preliminary heats of the OAC Swimming Championships Friday. The top sixteen times from the preliminary heats will swim in the evening finals. The top eight times will compete in the championship heat, while the bottom eight will compete in the consolation heat. Friday morning consisted of six events: 200-yard medley relay, 400-yard individual medley, 100-yard butterfly, 200-yard freestyle, 100-yard breaststroke, and 100-yard backstroke. In finals, the 800-yard freestyle relay will also be contested. The Fightin’ Quakers competed in all events, except the 400-yard individual medley. Following the momentum built from yesterday’s sessions, all of WC’s swims this morning were season bests.

    AKRON- The Wilmington College men’s swimming team completed the second day of the OAC Swimming Championship with a finals session Friday evening. To be eligible to swim in a finals session, a swimmer must post one of the top sixteen times in the AM prelims session. The top eight times swim in a championship heat, and the bottom eight in a consolation heat. Consolation heat swimmers are not eligible for the top eight places, even if their time is worthy. Friday’s finals session consisted of the following events: 200-yard medley relay, 400-yard individual medley, 100-yard butterfly, 200-yard freestyle, 100-yard breaststroke, 100-yard backstroke, the 800-yard freestyle relay. Women’s 1-meter and men’s 3-meter diving were also contested; however, Wilmington fielded no athletes in those events. At the conclusion of the session, the Fightin’ Quakers are fourth with 249 points, just 8 points ahead of fifth-place.

    AKRON- The Wilmington College men’s swimming team completed session one of the 2017 Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) Championship Thursday morning. This three-day championship meet consists of a prelims and finals session each day. From each morning prelims session, the top 16 times advance to the finals session with the top eight times swimming in the championship final heat and the bottom eight times swimming in the consolation final heat. Only final session swims are eligible for points. Thursday’s prelim session consisted of four events: 200-yard freestyle relay, 500-yard freestyle, 200-yard individual medley, 50-yard freestyle, and the 400-yard medley relay and the Fightin’ Quakers opened with a bang, as all 14 individual swims were significant season bests.
  • Men swim into fourth- Day one OAC Champs

    AKRON- The Wilmington College men's swimming team competed in their first finals session of the OAC Championships Thursday. The three day championship consists of a prelims and finals session each day. The top sixteen prelims times advance to finals and are the only swims of the day that are eligible for team points. Additionally, those swimming in a consolation final are not eligible for the top eight spots, even if they turn in a time worthy of a spot in the top eight. At the conclusion of a strong showing in Thursday's finals, the Fightin' Quakers are sitting solidly in fourth with 115 points.
  • Stewart remains on top for @DubC_Swimming men

    UNIVERSITY HEIGHTS- The Wilmington College men’s swimming team competed in their final meet of the regular season Saturday against fellow, OAC school, John Carroll University. The men saw a number of seasonal bests over the course of the afternoon, but were unable to come out on top. The final tally was JCU 161- WC 96.

    WILMINGTON- The Wilmington College men's swimming team competed in a dual meet Saturday against fellow OAC school, the University of Mount Union. This meet also served as their senior recognition meet. The "long event" format gave swimmers an opportunity to practice their 200s of stroke before heading into their championship meet in three weeks. The meet was extremely close, but ultimately, Mount Union came out on top, 111-94.

  • @DubC_Swimming Men improve at Manchester

    NORTH MANCHESTER, Indiana- The Wilmington College men’s swimming team competed in a dual meet on Saturday against Manchester University, an affiliate member of the OAC. This meet was the team’s first since November 20. Despite a near two month hiatus from competition and a stint of tough winter training in December, the Fightin’ Quakers found several lifetime and seasonal bests throughout the course of the meet. These incredible swims helped the Fightin’ Quakers win 9 out of the 11 swimming events, culminating to an overall win against Manchester, 118-63. Although Wilmington College did not score in the final two events of the meet, they still posted the fastest times.

    DELAWARE- The Wilmington College men’s swimming team completed the final session of the Corbiere-Merion Invitational, hosted by Ohio Wesleyan University on Sunday with one, timed final session. The men, who were in third place at the conclusion of day one, fought hard to keep their standing during the final session. The men finished the meet still in third place, with 633.5 points.

    DELAWARE- The Wilmington College men’s swimming team traveled to Ohio Wesleyan University this weekend to participate in the two-day, three session, timed final, Corbiere-Merion Invitational. At the conclusion of the first session, the Fightin’ Quakers were solidly in third place with 262 points, only 15 points behind the second-place team, but 128 points ahead of the third-place team. The Fightin’ Quakers held their position through the second session, coming out of the first day, still, in third with 427.5 points.

    WILMINGTON, Ohio- The Wilmington College Men’s Swim Team dove into the pool Saturday in a non-OAC dual meet against Hiram College. The men, whose record thus far this season is 3-1, added another win to the statistic today as they defeated Hiram, 128-33. The men competed in various unconventional events, including 50s of stroke and the 100 IM in addition to the usual line-up. The Fightin’ Quakers took home all 13 event titles, including relays.

    SPRINGFIELD, Ohio- The Wilmington College Men’s Swim Team traveled to Wittenberg University on Saturday to compete in a double-dual meet against Wittenberg and Transylvania University. In contrast to their short line-up the week before at Ohio Northern, this week the Fightin’ Quakers competed in the ‘long’ event line-up for the first time this season, with 200’s of stroke. The Fightin’ Quakers came out on top against both teams (Wilmington v Wittenberg, 131-112; Wilmington v Transylvania 162-61).
  • Early season lifetime bests for @DubC_Swimming men

    ADA, Ohio- The Wilmington College Men’s Swim Team traveled to Ohio Northern University, Friday to compete in their second OAC dual meet of the year. The Fightin’ Quakers swam well, catching many in-season and lifetime bests in the meet. The meet had an untraditional collegiate format- the teams competed in various 50-yard events, in addition to the usual line-up. The Fightin’ Quakers fell to the Polar Bears 196-66.

    The Wilmington College men's swimming team battled it out against Baldwin Wallace in their first meet of the season on Saturday. The scores were close; both teams demonstrated skill so early in the season, and WC came out on top, 107-87
