Martensson and Birch Earn All-OAC Honors for Men's Soccer

AUSTINTOWN, Ohio - Wilmington College senior Niklas Martensson and junior Thompson Birch represented the men's soccer contingent on the All-Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) Men's Soccer teams, released by the conference on Thursday.

Martensson garnered First Team All-OAC honors after averaged a goal a game during the 2018 season, netting 16 goals while dishing out five assists for 37 points. He scored two hat tricks on the season and leaves the program as one of the most prolific scorers to wear the Green and White. Martnesson scored 36 goals, dished out 17 assists and totaled 89 points during his Wilmington career.

Birch earned a spot on the All-OAC Second Team after starting in all 17 games anchoring the Fightin' Quakers' back line. Along with assisting goalkeeper Felix Maurer in allowing under two goals per game on average, Birch also scored a goal in a 7-1 rout of Muskingum University on Oct. 3 and dished out an assist in a 7-0 shutout of the University of Cincinnati Clermont College on Sept. 4

Wilmington finished its 2018 season with a 9-8-0 overall record and a 4-5-0 mark in OAC competition.
