Asteberg and Altmayer Earn Academic All-Ohio Honors

COMPLETE LIST OF NCAA DIVISION III ACADEMIC ALL-OHIO HONOREES

WILMINGTON, Ohio - Nils Asteberg and Jason Altmayer represented the Wilmington College men's soccer contingent to receive Academic All-Ohio honors handed out by the Ohio Collegiate Soccer Association (OSCA).

Asteberg garnered First Team Academic All-Ohio honors while Altmayer earned a spot on the Academic All-Ohio Third Team. Both individuals have over a 3.70 grade-point average.

Asteberg started all 19 games for the Fightin' Quakers back line and dished out assists in wins over Wittenberg University and Muskingum College.

"Nils [Asteberg] was our top defender throughout the season and his leadership was instrumental in our team success," Head Men's Soccer Coach Bud Lewis said. "He's a very gifted student and such class act in all he does on and off the field."

Alymayer, also a member of Wilmington's defense, started 11 games while assisting the offense with three points. He scored a goal in a 3-3 tie against Baldwin Wallace University while also dishing out an assist against Muskingum.

"I am really happy for Jason [Altmayer] to receive this recognition," Lewis continued. "He is such a good athlete and is equally successful in the classroom. He played a number of roles for us on the field and he really stepped up his game the last several contests of season."

 Wilmington finished the season with an 8-9-2 overall record and a 2-6-1 mark in Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) play.
