HANOVER, IN – The Wilmington College men's soccer team was shutout for the third consecutive game, falling to Hanover, 3-0, in non-conference action Tuesday at the HC Athletic Complex.

"I thought we started well for the first 15 minutes," said Wilmington head coach Bud Lewis. "We knew Hanover was a good team that could score a lot of goals. They are a senior-laden team that has several dangerous players. They really play well together."

The Panthers took the lead with a goal in the 31st minute, and according to Lewis, Wilmington was lucky to only trail by a single goal heading into halftime.

Hanover controlled the play for the final 10 minutes, and it was able to unleash five shots in that span.

"We felt we could get back into the game," said Lewis.

However, it didn't take long for the Panthers to double their advantage with a goal eight minutes into the second half.

Trailing by two, Wilmington was forced to take chances offensively – leaving itself vulnerable. The Panthers exploited it with a goal in the 80th minute.

It marks 271 minutes since Wilmington has scored a goal.

"It's definitely concerning," said Lewis. "We are not sure why we are not scoring goals."

Freshman Noah Wallis (Clarksville, OH/Landmark Christian) and freshman Gabriel Nygard (Karra, Sweden/Sjolins Gymnasium) each had a shot on goal for the Fightin' Quakers.

Senior Nick Baker (Indianapolis, IN/Decatur Central) recorded three saves on six shots.

Wilmington (3-4-2) starts Ohio Athletic Conference action 7 p.m. Saturday, hosting John Carroll.
