WC allows three second-half goals in loss

MEADVILLE, PA – The Wilmington College men's soccer team allowed three second-half goals and fell to 0-2 on the season with a 3-0 loss to Allegheny at the Allegheny Kick-Off Invitational Sunday.

After neither team was able to dent the net in the first 90 minutes, the host Gators didn't waste any time in snapping the scoreless tie in the second half. Allegheny put immediate pressure on the Quakers defense and in the 48th minute scored the first goal of the game.

The Gators added insurance goals in the 66th and 81st minutes. They managed the three second-half markers on just five shots. Allegheny finished the game with 14 shots, while Wilmington unleashed nine shots – five of which were on goal.

Sophomore Erik Hammar (Stockholm, Sweden/Ava Gymnasium) had two shots, both of which on goal, while junior Henrik Hornnaess (Brumunddal, Norway/Hamar Katerdralskole), sophomore Dan Wicks (Cincinnati/Reading) and sophomore Ben McMahon (Loveland/Little Miami) each had a shot on goal.

Wilmington (0-2) will host the College of Mount St. Joseph 7:30 p.m. Friday in the second game of the 2012 Kiwanis Classic.
