Men's Lacrosse Takes on Heidelberg to Open OAC Play

WILMINGTON, Ohio - The Wilmington College men's lacrosse team (2-6) will open Ohio Athletic Conference play Saturday in Williams Stadium at 1:00 against the Heidelberg Student Princes (0-7).

The Teams: Wilmington and Heidelberg. Both teams are hoping for a positive start to OAC play after a bumpy non-conference schedule. 

The Coaches: Wilmington has new leadership in the form of Head Coach Garyck Todd. The 2016 WC alumnus was a four-year member of the program and was a part of the team's first winning season (9-7) in 2015. He previously served as the head coach at Pickerington Central High School for the past three seasons. The 2021-22 season is Mark Cyron's first season at the helm of the men's lacrosse program, he previously served as an assistant coach at the University of Mount Union leading them to their first OAC tournament bid since 2014.

The Players: Austin Young and Justen Shaw scored in the second half against MVNU and they each have scored 11 times on the season. Alex Bruder leads the Student Prince's offense with nine goals this season. 

Series History: Wilmington and Heidelberg have faced each other just four times with the series record standing even at 2-2.
