Men's Lacrosse Drops 12-5 Game at William Peace

RALEIGH, North Carolina - The Wilmington College men's lacrosse team fell to William Peace University 12-5 on Wednesday evening.

Wilmington came out of the gate fast in the first quarter going on a 3-0 scoring run to give the Quakers an early lead. William Peace answered back quickly with a three-goal scoring run of its own. At the end of the first quarter, the game was tied at three. The second quarter opened up with the Pacers on a tear scoring three goals halfway through the quarter. William Peace was able to tack on one more goal before the half ended increasing their lead to 7-3. The Pacers held Wilmington scoreless in the second quarter.

The Pacers came out quick again in the third quarter going on a 2-0 scoring run. The Quakers were able to answer back with two goals of their own coming from Andrew Miller and Jhordan Lang. Wilmington was able to cut the lead to 9-5 but was unable to score again for the rest of the half. William Peace tacked on three more goals by the end of the fourth increasing its lead to 12-5.

Wilmington was led offensively, by Lang scoring two goals and assist on one on 16 shots. Andrew Miller added two goals on three shots. Defensively, Tanner Diment picked up 10 ground balls and went 14-16 on face-offs. In addition to Diment, Michael Acquaviva caused five turnovers on the afternoon.

Wilmington (1-3) will open up at home against Adrian College on March 17, at 2 p.m.
