WILMINGTON, Ohio – The Wilmington College men's lacrosse team travels to Ferrum in its third game of a four-game road stretch on Tuesday. The game is scheduled to begin at 4 p.m.
The Teams: Wilmington will be looking to start its first win streak of the season after a win last week in the Quaker Bowl against Earlham College. The Fightin' Quakers won in a lopsided affair 21-0 and are looking to continue where they left off against Ferrum. Ferrum, 3-6 on the season, will be looking to bounce back after a tightly contested game against Brevard College. The Panthers came out on the wrong end of a 10-11 game.
The Coaches: Jeff Arneson is in his first season as head coach of the Wilmington men's lacrosse program. Arneson comes to Wilmington from a seven-year stint as a coach from Thiel College including six years as the head coach. While at Thiel, Coach Arneson took the team from a 2-12 record in his first year to a 10-5 record in 2015. In 2014, Arneson coached the Player of the Year in the President's Athletic Conference (PAC) while also winning coach of the year. The Ferrum College Panthers are coached by Michael Baggetta this season. Baggetta comes to Ferrum from Bridgewater College, where he spent the 2016-17 year as Assistant Men's Lacrosse Coach. Prior to Bridgewater, he spent four years from 2013-16 as an assistant coach at Salisbury University.
The Players: Wilmington is led by the duo of Jhordan Lang and Connor Judge offensively this year. Both Lang and Judge have scored 7 goals and assisted on three each. Andrew Miller has chipped in as well with four goals and two assists on the season. Defensively, Tanner Diment and Zac Chucta have led the way for the Fightin' Quakers. Together, Diment and Chucta have totaled 41 ground balls and caused four turnovers. In goal for the Quakers, is Jake Ladendorf who has 17 saves on the season with a record of 1-1. For the Panthers, the offense is led by a trio scoring 40 goals on the season. Chase Tallon, Tyler Fullem, and Kyle Lister lead the way in the goals scored category. Defensively, Ferrum is led by Bizabiel Reyes and Brendon Schrantz who have totaled 14 caused turnovers. Goalie, Koby McMahon has started all eight games for the Panthers and has totaled 77 saves on the season.
