WILMINGTON, Ohio – The Wilmington College men's lacrosse team travels to Earlham in its second game of a four-game road stretch on Tuesday. Face-off in the Quaker Bowl is scheduled for 7 p.m.
The Teams: Wilmington will be looking to bounce back after a tough loss to Wabash in the first game of the season. Connor Judge highlighted the Fightin' Quakers performance with scoring a hat trick in the opener. The Quakers will need to win the turnover battle against Earlham to give them a good opportunity to win the game. Wilmington lost the turnover battle 28-18 against Wabash. The Quakers of Earlham will be also looking to bounce back after the program's first game resulted in a 25-8 lost against Fontbonne.
The Coaches: Jeff Arneson is in his first season as head coach of the Wilmington men's lacrosse program. Arneson comes to Wilmington from a seven-year stint as a coach from Thiel College including six years as the head coach. While at Thiel, Coach Arneson took the team from a 2-12 record in his first year to a 10-5 record in 2015. In 2014, Arneson coached the Player of the Year in the President's Athletic Conference (PAC) while also winning coach of the year. Earlham is coached by Jason Grace, who is in his second season, and will be leading the Quakers in the inaugural year.
The Players: Jhordan Lang will be returning this season for his senior year leading the offensive attack for the Quakers. During last season, Lang amounted 68 points for the Quakers. In Lang's first game, he was able to add to his career point total by scoring one goal and one assist. Sophomore Connor Judge will add to the attack while totaling 29 points last season. Judge scored a hat trick in the opener against Wabash while adding one assist. Defensively, Seniors Tanner Diment and Jake Ladendorf will lead the way. Diment will be playing defense and face-off this season and will be looked to for his experience and work ethic from the rest of the team. Ladendorf will move to goalie this season after playing on the offensive side of the ball last season. Earlham will be led by Nori Kasai who scored five goals in the first game along with Daniel O'Donnell who added two goals, respectively.
Quaker Bowl Rivalry: The athletics departments of Wilmington and Earlham have re-created the Quaker Bowl rivalry. Originally a traveling trophy for just football and men's basketball, the bowl will now be competed for across all sports the two schools compete in. Wilmington leads the 2017-18 standings 6-2 with the only losses being in volleyball and baseball. More information on this year's Quaker Bowl matchup can be found by visiting the link above.
