Men's Lacrosse Drops Season Opener at Wabash

CRAWFORDSVILLE, Indiana - The Wilmington College men's lacrosse team fell to Wabash College 19-6 in the regular season opener on Sunday afternoon.

Wilmington kept in close in the first quarter scoring on two goals both by Connor Judge. Defensively, Wilmington was able to hold Wabash to just four goals on eight total shots. During the second quarter, Wabash was able to increase its lead by another goal finishing with five in the quarter compared to Wilmington's two goals. Judge was able to add to his goal total by putting in his third while Kyle Dimick was able to score his first of the day. At the end of the half, the Little Giants took a 9-4 lead against the Fightin' Quakers.

To begin the second half Wilmington came out on a tear scoring the first two goals of the third quarter by Jhordan Lang and Andrew Miller, narrowing the game to a 9-6 deficit. Wabash would not let up another goal for the rest of the game. Wabash went on a 10-0 scoring run to end the game with seven of those goals coming in the third quarter. Wabash was able to add three more to the total by the end of the fourth making the score 19-6 at the end of regulation

Judge was the offensive leader for the Quakers this afternoon by scoring a team-high three goals on eight shots. Defensively, Diment was able to come up with 12 ground balls and went 18-of-27 on face-offs. Goalie Jake Ladendorf was able to amount 11 saves on the afternoon.

Wilmington (0-1) will travel to Earlham College on Tuesday, March 6, for a matchup in the Quaker Bowl Rivalry. The game is slated to start at 7 p.m.
