"I am very excited to appoint Jeff Arneson as our head men's lacrosse coach," said Rupert. "He has a proven track record of success as a head coach at the NCAA Division III level as well as being familiar with Clinton County and the surrounding area."

Arneson comes to Wilmington from Thiel College (Pennsylvania) where he served as head men's lacrosse coach from 2011-17. He took over a program that won just two games his first season to guiding the Tomcats to consecutive 10-win campaigns his last two years. Arneson, who coached the PAC Most Valuable Player in 2014, garnered the PAC Coach of the Year honors that season.

In addition to improved success on the lacrosse field, Arneson's team's also improved in the classroom as the program's grade point average improved nearly a full point during his Tomcat tenure.

"I'm excited for the opportunity to coach at Wilmington College," Arneson said. "My experiences on campus in the past few days truly make me believe this is a wonderful place and we have the potential to build a strong lacrosse program here."

Arneson was a four-year letter winner at Wheeling Jesuit University, an NCAA Division II institution in Wheeling, West Virginia. He accumulated 28 points as a starting midfielder as a senior.  Arneson, who graduated from Wheeling Jesuit in 2010 with a degree in business administration, was an All-State prep player at Wilmington High School and played with the USA Travel Team during the summer of 2008.

"It's always been a dream of mine to come back to the town of Wilmington and grow the game of lacrosse," said Arneson. "My first experience of the sport started in eighth grade at Wilmington Middle School and I'm pleased to be able to work at the College and display my passion for coaching at the college level."

Wilmington opens its 2018 season at Wabash College on Feb. 27.
