DubC_MLAX suffers tough loss in game against Otterbein

Wilmington, OH - The Wilmington College Fightin' Quakers men's Lacrosse team took on the Otterbein Cardinals.  Wilmington lost against Otterbein by a score of 20-4.

HOW IT HAPPENED 

  • In the first quarter Wilmington was held scoreless on only a handful of offensive possessions. Otterbein capitalized on a majority of their offensive possessions with scoring eight goals by the end of the quarter.
  • In the second quarter Wilmington was able to add two goals, one by freshman Andrew Miller (Plain City, OH/ Jonathan Alder) and another by junior Jhordan Lang (Sunbury, OH/Big Walnut).  Wilmington was unable to hold off the offensive threat from Otterbein allowing six more goals, putting the score at Otterbein 14 and Wilmington 2.
  • In the third quarter, Wilmington was able to slow down the offensive attack from Otterbein allowing just four goals.  Wilmington was able to score the lone goal by senior Chris Hein (McKinney, TX/McKinney).
  • In the fourth quarter Wilmington struggled to come back with such a large deficit but continued to work hard and finish the game.
  • The top offensive performer of the evening was Lang with two goals on five shots.
  • Defensively, junior Tanner Diment (Midland, MI/Midland) picked up 14 ground balls and freshman Matthew Willenbrink (Middletown, OH/ Bishop Fenwick) was able to cause three turnovers.
  • Koerbel allowed 20 goals with 23 saves and four ground balls on the afternoon.

  • "We dug ourselves a hole in the first quarter and we struggled to erase that goal deficit all evening," said head coach Bryan Habick
  • "I was proud of the way we fought this evening playing all 60 minutes very tough and I'm excited to get back to practice to prepare for our next game," said coach Habick.

Wilmington (2-10) returns to action 1:00 p.m. Saturday, April 15th, competing away against Heidelberg in conference action.
