Delaney notches 100th career goal

Wilmington, OH - The Wilmington College Fightin' Quakers men's Lacrosse team took on the Baldwin Wallace Yellow Jackets this evening.  Wilmington lost against Baldwin Wallace by a score of 16-6.

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • In the first period both Wilmington was able to hold off the offensive attack from Baldwin Wallace by only allowing two goals and by playing aggressive defense across the board.
  • In the second period Baldwin Wallace was able to find an offensive rhythm by scoring on eight straight goals stretching the lead to 10-0 at the half.
  • To begin the third period, Wilmington was able to score the first goal of the period by junior Jhordan Lang (Sunbury, OH/Big Walnut). Shortly, thereafter, senior Reid Delaney (Wooster, OH/Wooster) was able to put in his 100th career goal.
  • In the fourth period Wilmington's Lang was able to add two additional goals but they were not enough to overcome the first half deficit.
  • The top offensive performers of the evening for Wilmington were Lang with four goals and one assist, and Delaney posting two goals and one assist.
  • Defensively freshman Matthew Willenbrink (Middletown, OH/Bishop Fenwick) was able to cause two turnovers and pick up two ground balls, while senior goalie, Paul Koerbel (Maineville, OH/Kings) allowed 16 goals with 20 saves and 4 ground balls on the afternoon.

  • "We played very well today in all aspects of the game.  Our guys fought hard for a full 60 minutes and kept working all game long," said head coach Bryan Habick

Wilmington (2-7) returns to action 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, April 5th, competing away against Ohio Northern in conference action.
