Men's lax falls in inaugural OAC game

The Wilmington College men's lacrosse fell to Baldwin Wallace University, 15-3, in the inaugural Ohio Athletic Conference game for both teams. The OAC is sponsoring lacrosse for the first time in 2014.

Wilmington was unable to control the game due to turnovers and the physical battle with Baldwin Wallace for ground balls. The Quakers had 20 turnovers in the game, with seven in the first quarter alone. Wilmington was only able to pick up 19 groundballs while Baldwin Wallace was picked up 24.

WC also couldn't force any turnovers during the clear, as Baldwin Wallace was successful in 17-of-18 attempts. Meanwhile, Wilmington was 12-of-16 in its clear attempts.

Wilmington's first goal was by freshman Reid Delaney (Wooster, OH/ Wooster) after four unanswered goals by the Yellow Jackets with less than six minutes left in the first quarter.

The Fightin' Quakers were able to slow down the Yellow Jackets for first five minutes in the second. Sophomore Evan Osborne (Middletown, OH/Lebanon) seized an extra-man opportunity, and was the first to score in the second period with the assist of Jalen Jackson (Hilliard, OH/Bradley).

Seconds later, the Yellow Jackets had the same opportunity and capitalized. WC was unable to stop Baldwin Wallace from there, allowing them to score four more unanswered goals.

The Yellow Jackets dominated the third period, scoring four unanswered goals. The Fightin' Quakers were able to clear the ball clearing 4-of-5 - but suffered six turnovers.

Freshman Nick Perry (Carmel, IN/Carmel) rounded out the Wilmington scoring with a goal with two minutes remaining in the game.

Wilmington (4-7 overall, 0-1 OAC) stays at home to host Capital 7:30 p.m. Wednesday.
