Men's lacrosse falls to Trine

ANGOLA, IN – With injuries forcing some key lineup changes, the Wilmington College men's lacrosse team fell to Trine University, 15-3, in non-conference action Wednesday.

As freshman goalkeeper Paul Koerbel (Maineville, OH/Kings) sat out with an injury, freshman attack Nick Perry (Carmel, IN/Carmel) was forced in between the pipes. He played admirably; making 12 saves on the game.

Wilmington got off to a slow start as the Thunder rolled to the game's first 11 goals. Part of the Fightin' Quakers difficulties were the inability to win the faceoff.  Wilmington won just two face-offs, both in the second period, in 21 attempts. WC also couldn't force any turnovers during the clear, as Trine was successful in 18-of-20 attempts. Meanwhile, Wilmington was 16-of-23 in its clear attempts.

Sophomore Evan Osborne (Middletown, OH/Lebanon) scored Wilmington's first goal with a little more than three minutes remaining in the first half. Freshman Reid Delaney (Wooster, OH/Wooster) scored off a pass from sophomore Alexander Gossard (Galloway, OH/Hilliard Bradley) two minutes later.

The Thunder dominated the third period, scoring three unanswered goals.

Sophomore Jalen Jackson (Hilliard, OH/Bradley) rounded out the Wilmington scoring with a goal with 11 minutes remaining in the game.

Wilmington (4-6 overall) plays its inaugural Ohio Athletic Conference game, hosting Baldwin Wallace 1 p.m. Saturday at Williams Stadium.
