Sophomore Jalen Jackson scored twice with one assist as the Wilmington College men's lacrosse team fell to Hanover, 15-7, in the Fightin' Quakers home opener in non-conference action.
The Panthers scored nine unanswered goals spanning from the end of the first period to the beginning of the third period to take control of the contest. The ability to win face-offs enabled the Panthers to control the offensive momentum. Hanover won 11 of 12 first-half face-offs, and finished the game winning 18 of 25.
Jackson (Hilliard, OH/Bradley) got WC on the board five minutes into the game, pulling the Fightin' Quakers to within 3-1. The team traded goals with sophomore Alexander Gossard (Galloway, OH/Hilliard Bradley) scoring off a Jackson assist with two minutes remaining in the first period. Then HC rattled off the aforementioned scoring stretch that pushed the WC deficit to 13-2.
Wilmington pulled to within 14-7 as freshmen Reid Delaney (Wooster, OH/Wooster) scored twice and the Fightin' Quakers got scores from Chris Hein (McKinney, TX/McKinney) and Nick Perry (Carmel, IN/Carmel).
Evan Osborne (Middletown, OH/Lebanon), Camden Doherty (Westerville, OH/South) and Gossard all had assists for Wilmington.
Freshman Paul Koerbel (Maineville, OH/Kings) was phenomenal between the pipes, making 31 saves.
