Men's lacrosse wraps up inaugural campaign

The Wilmington College men's lacrosse team finished its inaugural season by falling to Mount Union Saturday, 25-2, at Williams Stadium. It was ugly end to an otherwise successful opening campaign.

Wilmington finished the season 4-11 overall.

Kirby Dearth (Hilliard, OH/Darby) and Alex Gossard (Galloway, OH/Hilliard Bradley) each scored for Wilmington with Jalen Jackson (Hillard, OH/Bradley) and Austin Johnston (Columbus, OH/Hilliard Bradley) recording assists.

The trio of Jackson (32 goals), Dearth (29 goals) and Gossard (24 goals) tallied 87 percent of the team's scoring this season. Jackson also had a team-high 17 assists, while Dearth was second with 15.

Mount Union scored the first five goals of the game, and concluded the opening 15 minutes by tallying 10 goals. The Purple Raiders added four goals in the second period and five in the third, taking a 19-1 lead in the final quarter. They tacked on six more in the fourth before the Quakers got a final tally with 3:20 remaining in the game.
