(BEREA, Ohio) – The Wilmington College men's basketball team was in Berea, Ohio Saturday afternoon for an Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) matchup with the Baldwin Wallace University Yellow Jackets. They lost the game 68-62 and are now 6-9 overall this season and 2-6 in the OAC. They outscored the Yellow Jackets in the second half but couldn't overcome a nine-point halftime deficit in the loss.
The first ten minutes of the game went to Baldwin Wallace as they held a 20-16 advantage after a layup with 10:01 in the half. This lead would grow to 27-18 with 6:43 remaining in the first half. The Quakers tried to claw their way into the deficit before the half, but never got it below eight points as they went into the locker room trailing by a score of 34-25.
The lead grew to 14 at the beginning of the second frame to 39-25 with 19:26 to play in the contest. At 14:27 in the game after losing 47-31, a Ben Golan three-pointer ensued as the Quakers tried to make a push. They cut the lead down to 52-46 after a Gavin Heimlich jumper capped off a 15-5 run.
The lead grew back out to 58-48 before another 5-0 Wilmington rally made it 58-53 with 5:32 to play. A pair of Obed Achirem free throws and a Rashid Chisholm layup made it a one-point game at 60-59 with 3:07 remaining, but the game ended on an 8-3 Yellow Jackets run to snatch the game from the Quakers.
