Men's Basketball Travels to John Carroll for Regular Season Finale Saturday

WILMINGTON, Ohio - The Wilmington College men's basketball team concludes its 2018-19 regular season on Saturday with a trip to John Carroll University. The Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) contest is slated to begin at 3 p.m. from the Tony DeCarlo Center.

The Teams: Wilmington and John Carroll. The Fightin' Quakers are 17-6 overall and 13-4 in OAC play after defeating No. 16 Capital University 67-62 on senior night on Wednesday. The Blue Streaks are 11-13 overall and 7-10 in conference competition after defeating Otterbein University 84-75 on the road on Wednesday.

The Coaches: K.C. Hunt is in his 12th season as head coach of Wilmington's men's basketball program. Hunt, who has coached two All-Americans and seven of the school's 1,000-point scorers, led the Quakers to OAC Tournament titles in 2010 and 2014. He garnered Great Lakes Region Coach of the Year honors for guiding Wilmington to OAC Tournament title and a win in the NCAA Division III Tournament in 2010. Pete Moran, class of 2008 and son of former JCU Head Coach Mike, is in his second season leading the Blue Streaks. JCU won a share of the OAC regular season title and the OAC Tournament in his first season.

The Players: A trio of Quakers – DaeShawn Jackson, Kevin Lewis and Will Patrick – all score in double figures including Jackson as the leader at 15.3 points per game. Lewis, the team's leader in rebounding at 5.5 boards per game, scores 14.3 points per game along with stealing two passes per contest, one of the top marks in the OAC in that category. Patrick contributes over a dozen points off the bench. Jimmy Berger leads John Carroll offensively scoring 16.4 points per game. Three other Blue Streaks scoring in double figures while Luke Hippler grabs a team-best 5.7 rebounds per contest.

Tale of the Tape: Points per game - Wilmington 79.4, JCU 83.0; opponents points per game - Wilmington 74.9, JCU 84.7; field goal percentage - Wilmington 43.0, JCU 42.8; three point percentage - Wilmington 35.7, JCU 36.1; free throw percentage - Wilmington 70.6, JCU 72.4; rebounds per game - Wilmington 36.5, JCU 38.8; assist-to-turnover ratio - Wilmington 1.00, JCU 1.20.

Recent History: Wilmington is 13-28 against JCU since joining the OAC prior to the 2000-01 season. The Quakers won the first meeting between the two teams, 99-84 at Hermann Court on Jan. 5. More information on the series history can be viewed at the link above.

NCAA Regional Rankings: Wilmington checks in at No. 7 in the most recent Great Lakes Regional rankings.

OAC Tournament: Wilmington has clinched at least a first round home game on regardless of result. The Quakers can earn a share of the program's first OAC regular season title with a win and a Mount Union win over Capital.
