Men's Basketball Heads to BW for Pivotal OAC Contest Saturday

WILMINGTON, Ohio - The Wilmington College men's basketball team travels to Baldwin Wallace University (BW) for a key Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) game on Saturday. Tip-off from Ursprung Gymnasium is scheduled for 3 p.m.

The Teams: Wilmington and Baldwin Wallace. The Fightin' Quakers stand at 13-6 overall and 9-4 in conference play after defeating Otterbein University 82-60 on Wednesday evening. The Yellow Jackets are also 14-6 overall as well as 8-5 in the OAC after a 79-70 win at Ohio Northern University on Thursday.

The Coaches: K.C. Hunt is in his 12th season as head coach of Wilmington's men's basketball program. Hunt, who has coached two All-Americans and seven of the school's 1,000-point scorers, led the Quakers to OAC Tournament titles in 2010 and 2014. He garnered Great Lakes Region Coach of the Year honors for guiding Wilmington to OAC Tournament title and a win in the NCAA Division III Tournament in 2010. Tom Heil, formerly the head coach at Defiance College, is in his fourth season as BW's head coach and has produced four consecutive winning seasons during that span.

The Players: A trio of Quakers – DaeShawn Jackson, Kevin Lewis and Will Patrick – all score in double figures including Jackson at 15.5 points per game. Lewis, who scores 14.7 points per contest, leads Wilmington in rebounding at 5.5 boards per game and is second in the OAC in steals per game at 2.4. Patrick and Andrew Russell, who both come off the bench, combined to score 35 points in the Quakers' win over Otterbein. BW is led by the tandem of Jay Battle and Michael Quiring who both score in double figures. Drew Sova leads the team in rebounding at 8.6 boards per contest.

Tale of the Tape: Points per game - Wilmington 79.9, BW 78.1; opponents points per game - Wilmington 75.6, BW 70.2; field goal percentage - Wilmington 42.7, BW 44.7; three-point percentage - Wilmington 35.8, BW 36.4; free throw percentage - Wilmington 69.7, BW 64.5; rebounds per game - Wilmington 36.7, BW 38.0; assist-to-turnover ratio - Wilmington 1.00, BW 1.16.
