ADA, Ohio - The Wilmington College men's basketball team improved to 4-0 on the season when shooting 50 percent of better from the field as the Fightin' Quakers defeated the Polar Bears 78-60 in Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) action on Wednesday evening.

ONU, which entered the game winless in OAC play, hung with Wilmington throughout most of the first half. The Polar Bears got within a single point (31-30) on a triple from Sean Grady with 2:15 to play in the half, but a quick 8-0 run from the Quakers fueled by baskets from DaeShawn Jackson, BJ Hamilton and Abdul Kanu gave the visitors a 39-30 lead at halftime.

Coincidentally, Wilmington would also outscore ONU by a 39-30 margin in the second half. The Quakers scored the first three baskets of the half to build a 15-point advantage forcing a Polar Bear timeout two-and-a-half minutes into the second half. ONU would trail by double digits until a triple with 3:56 to play cut the Wilmington lead to 64-56.

The Quakers delivered the knockout punch, however, as two triples from Will Patrick followed by free throws from Jackson and Kanu sealed Wilmington's first win inside the ONU Sports Center since Jan. 22, 2014.

Wilmington made 30-of-60 from the field as well as 7-of-22 (31.8 percent) from distance. ONU was held to just 22-of-59 (37.3 percent) from the field and 6-of-24 (25.0 percent) from beyond the arc. Both teams grabbed 36 rebounds, but the Quakers forced 19 turnovers.

Individually, Will Patrick led all scorers with 19 points off the bench including making 5-of-7 three-point attempts. Jackson finished with 16 points while Kevin Lewis added a dozen. Kanu finished with nine points and a team-high seven rebounds.

Daniel Donner led ONU with 15 points in defeat while Ryan Bruns added a double-double with 14 points and 10 rebounds.

Wilmington (11-6, 7-4 OAC) hosts Heidelberg University for a 3 p.m. contest on Saturday.
