Men's Basketball to Compete in Kiwanis/Wittenberg Holiday Classic this Weekend

WILMINGTON, Ohio - The Wilmington College men's basketball team travels to the Kiwanis/Wittenberg Holiday Classic for the final two games of the 2018 calendar year this weekend.

The Classic: Wilmington will face Wabash College at 4:30 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 28 followed by host Wittenberg University at 7 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 29.

The Teams: Wilmington, Wabash and Wittenberg. The Fightin' Quakers come into the weekend with a 5-4 record and trying to snap a two-game slump after falling at Capital University 75-62 on Dec. 19. The Little Giants are a perfect 10-0 this season after dispatching two North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC) foes by over 40 points each last week. The Tigers are 8-1 with the lone blemish being an 84-74 loss at Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) member Marietta College on Nov. 28.

The Coaches: K.C. Hunt is in his 12th season as head coach of Wilmington's men's basketball program. Hunt, who has coached two All-Americans and seven of the school's 1,000-point scorers, led the Quakers to OAC Tournament titles in 2010 and 2014. He garnered Great Lakes Region Coach of the Year honors for guiding Wilmington to OAC Tournament title and a win in the NCAA Division III Tournament in 2010. Kyle Brummett, who most recently won his 200th career game, is in his fifth season as Wabash's head coach. Matt Croci, a 1994 Wittenberg alumnus, is in his third season leading the Tigers.

The Players: Three Wilmington individuals - Kevin Lewis, DaeShawn Jackson and Will Patrick - all score in double figures with Jackson leading the team at 17.0 points per game. Lewis leads the squad in rebounding at 6.2 boards per contest while Abdul Kanu, Jeffery Mansfield, Andrew Russell and Colin Myers all grab over three rebounds per game. Payton Smith dishes out a team high 2.8 assists per contest. Jack Davison averages 22.8 points per game to lead the Little Giants while Harrison Hallstrom scores 10.4 points and grabs a team-high 7.4 rebounds per game. A trio of Tigers - Connor Seipel, Mitchell Balser and Jordan Pumroy - all score in double figures with Seipel averaging a double-double.
