Men's Basketball Travels to Marietta Saturday

WILMINGTON, Ohio - The Wilmington College men's basketball team travels to Marietta College for an Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) contest on Saturday afternoon. Tip-off from Ban Johnson Arena is slated for 3 p.m.

The Teams: Wilmington and Marietta. The Fightin' Quakers stand at 5-2 overall and 2-1 in OAC play after falling to the University of Mount Union 92-74 on Saturday. The Pioneers are a perfect 8-0 and 3-0 in conference after an 87-68 triumph over Baldwin Wallace University on Saturday.

The Coaches: K.C. Hunt is in his 12th season as head coach of Wilmington's men's basketball program. Hunt, who has coached two All-Americans and seven of the school's 1,000-point scorers, led the Quakers to OAC Tournament titles in 2010 and 2014. He garnered Great Lakes Region Coach of the Year honors for guiding Wilmington to OAC Tournament title and a win in the NCAA Division III Tournament in 2010. Jon VanderWal is in his 11th season as Marietta's head men's basketball coach. The Pioneers have won over 190 games during his tenure.

The Players: Three Wilmington individuals - Kevin Lewis, DaeShawn Jackson and Will Patrick - all score in double figures with Lewis leading the team at 17.7 points per game. Lewis also leads the squad in rebounding at 6.1 boards per contest while Abdul Kanu, Jeffery Mansfield and Andrew Russell all grab over four rebounds per game. Payton Smith dishes out a team high three assists per contest. Four Pioneers – Kyle Dixon, Anthony Wallace, Tim Kreeger and Jason Ellis – score in double figures. Dixon leads the bunch at 12.3 points per game along with grabbing over five rebounds per contest. Kreeger and Kyle Matoszkia also aid the Pioneers on the boards to the tune of over five rebounds per game.
