Men's Basketball Heads to Heidelberg for OAC Opener Saturday

WILMINGTON, Ohio - The Wilmington College men's basketball team opens Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) play by traveling to Heidelberg University on Saturday. Tip-off from Seiberling Gymnasium is scheduled for 2 p.m.

The Teams: Wilmington and Heidelberg. The Fightin' Quakers are 3-1 overall after an 85-77 win at Earlham College in the Quaker Bowl rivalry on Wednesday evening. The Student Princes are 0-3 on the year after falling 79-76 at Bluffton University on Nov. 24.

The Coaches: K.C. Hunt is in his 12th season as head coach of Wilmington's men's basketball program. Hunt, who has coached two All-Americans and seven of the school's 1,000-point scorers, led the Quakers to OAC Tournament titles in 2010 and 2014. He garnered Great Lakes Region Coach of the Year honors for guiding Wilmington to OAC Tournament title and a win in the NCAA Division III Tournament in 2010. Andy Bucheit, the 2005 graduate of Wittenberg University, enters his sixth season as Heidelberg's head coach. The Student Princes have achieved a 54-75 record under his watch.

The Players: Three Wilmington individuals - Kevin Lewis, DaeShawn Jackson and Will Patrick - all score in double figures with Lewis leading the team at 17.5 points per game. Lewis, Abdul Kanu, Jeffrey Mansfield, Andrew Russell and Colin Myers all grab over four rebounds per contest while Payton Smith both dish out at least three assists per contest. Lewis and Patrick also pull their weight defensively, stealing over two passes per game. Myron Prewitt averages a double-double for Heidelberg, scoring 19.0 points and grabbing 10.7 rebounds per game. Jimmy Hanley also scores in double figures for the Student Princes.
