Men's Basketball Heads to Virginia for Pablo Coto Tip-Off Tournament

WILMINGTON, Ohio - The Wilmington College men's basketball team travels to Virginia for the sixth annual Pablo Coto Tip-Off Tournament hosted by Marymount University this weekend.

The Tournament: The Fightin' Quakers will play host Marymount on Saturday at 1 p.m. followed by either Christopher Newport University (CNU) or Trinity University of Texas on Sunday.

The Teams: Wilmington and Marymount. The Fightin' Quakers are 1-0 on the season after defeating Mount St. Joseph University (MSJ) 86-65 in the season-opener on Monday evening. The Saints are also perfect on the season after moving to 2-0 by defeating Catholic University 70-67 on Tuesday.

The Coaches: K.C. Hunt is in his 12th season as head coach of Wilmington's men's basketball program. Hunt, who has coached two All-Americans and seven of the school's 1,000-point scorers, led the Quakers to OAC Tournament titles in 2010 and 2014. He garnered Great Lakes Region Coach of the Year honors for guiding Wilmington to OAC Tournament title and a win in the NCAA Division III Tournament in 2010. Chris Rogers is in his ninth season as Marymount's head coach.

The Players: Seniors Andrew Russell and Kevin Lewis led the way for Wilmington offensively in the win over MSJ as Russell scored 22 points and Lewis added 19. Both connected on five three-pointers. Will Patrick also scored in double figures for the Quakers, tallying 13 points to go along with four assists and four steals. LaDarius McCord leads the Marymount attack with 18.5 points per game along with connecting on seven triples through two games this season. Three other Saints – Steve Etienne, Ibrahim Kamara and Brandon Rogers – all score in double figures.

Tale of the Tape: Points per game - Wilmington 86.0, Marymount 80.0; opponents points per game - Wilmington 65.0, Marymount 68.0; field goal percentage - Wilmington 42.1, Marymount 47.3; three point percentage - Wilmington 43.8, Marymount 37.0; free throw percentage - Wilmington 61.5, Marymount 81.0; rebounds per game - Wilmington 42.0, Marymount 29.5; assist-to-turnover ratio - Wilmington 1.19, Marymount 1.12.

Recent History: Wilmington has not played Marymount since joining NCAA Division III prior to the 1991-92 season.
