Men's Basketball Resumes OAC Play at Capital on Wednesday

WILMINGTON, Ohio – The Wilmington College men's basketball team opens 2018 with an Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) contest at Capital University on Wednesday, Jan. 3. Tip-off from the Capital Center is scheduled for 7 p.m.

The Teams: Wilmington and Capital. The Fightin' Quakers enter the game with a 4-6 overall and still in search of their first conference victory. The Crusaders are 5-6 overall and 1-3 in the OAC. Both programs are entering the game looking to establish a winning streak as Wilmington ended 2017 with a victory at Trine University and Capital edged Mount St. Joseph University in overtime. Damon Goodwin, the head men's basketball coach at Capital since the 1994-95 season, has led the Crusaders to over 350 victories during that time.

The Coaches: K.C. Hunt enters his 11th season as head coach of Wilmington's men's basketball program. Hunt, who has coached two All-Americans and seven of the school's 1,000-point scorers, led the Quakers to OAC Tournament titles in 2010 and 2014. He garnered Great Lakes Region Coach of the Year honors for guiding Wilmington to OAC Tournament title and a win in the NCAA Division III Tournament in 2010. Brooks Miller, a former Bobby Knight graduate assistant, has been Trine's head coach for six seasons.

The Players: Three Quakes average double figures in scoring including Christian Jones, a member of the 1,000-point club, who averages 19.4 points per contest while shooting over 42 percent from three-point range. Nathan Scott, who tied a career high 25 points in the victory over Trine, scores nearly 13.0 points per game. Will Patrick also scores in double figures. Joe Weingartner and Austin Schreck combine to score over 30 points per game for the Crusaders. Caleb Cox grabs 9.3 rebounds per contest.
